Brandon Beck # 48

Brandon,
I am very proud of you.

Love,
Dad

This is the beginning of a new day.God has given me this day to use as I will.I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is very important because I am Exchanging a day of my life for it.When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever.Leaving something in its place I have traded for it.I want it to be a gain, not loss - good, not evil.Success, not failure in order that I shall not forget the price I paid for it.

Savannah Smith

To Jarret and All

To Jarret and All,

Jarret we are proud of you and your attitude towards your team. You did what was asked of you without complaint or question and when you were called upon you did your best for yourself and your teamates. We could not have asked you for any more than freely you gave.

Coach Mike, Hans, Darren, Johnny, Jeff and Bobby- we would like to thank you for the wonderful year we have had. Coach Bobby and Johnny- You have been the "greatest" waterboys a team could have. Thank you all for being so good to Jarret since this was his first year with the Vikings. We have really enjoyed being a part of this team. You have all made us feel very welcome. We have formed some very good friendships this season.

Carla - thank you for all that you have done for the team. You have been a great team mom.

Maria - thank you for all the great pictures you took this season. We have enjoyed looking at all of them.

Maggie - thanks for always being there when we had questions regarding the team. We don't know how you do all that you do.

To Carla

Carla,
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO! You are an amazing woman, you have been the heart of any team that Kaleb has been on that you are our team mom. You work so hard to make sure everything is taken care of and never hesitate in doing that. You give so much of yourself to these boys and treat them as your own, that says sooo much for your character. You also keep the coaches and us parents in check with what we need to do....how you do it all I will never know! I want you to know how much I appreciate everything you do and have done this year and in previous years. Too bad there aren't more like you...you set high standards for other team moms to meet (yeah right!); you are a true class act!

Coaches

To the coaches of the 2008 9/10 Super Bowl Champs....I wanted you to know how grateful I am that my son has had the privilege of playing for you. You are all truly amazing, the things that you have taught these boys will be with him for the rest of their lives...heart, determination, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and pride. You all carry these traits in yourself that's why it was so easy for the boys to learn it from you. Each and every boy respected each and every one of you, you all had a way of getting them to do what you wanted without yelling all of time. You spoke they listened...I admire this! Thank you for EVERYTHING you done for my son and the other boys on the team. I am proud to say you all were my son's coaches and I can't wait for next season!

Angel (#60's mom)

Kaleb #60

I am so happy that you FINALLY decided to give it another go at football. I know you have absolutely loved this season! You and your team have created many lifetime memories together. I don't think I have ever seen you as excited about anything as you were about making it to the Super Bowl. I am very proud of your heart and determination during this season, you really got in there and supported your team. This season was exciting for me so I know it was exciting for you!! I don't think either one of us can wait for next year!

Love ,
Mom

Austin #88

Dear Austin,

I remember you saying "No, I don't want to play football, I want to wait for basketball." Then you decided to give practice a try and see if you liked it. You were so excited! You called me 3 or 4 times in about 10 minutes to tell me "Mom, I love it and I'm playing. " We are so proud of the young man you became on and off the field this year. We couldn't wait to watch the games on Saturday morning. I know you made memories that will stay with you forever and winning a Super Bowl---- way to go son.

We love you,
Mom and Dad

Joshua #74

Josh

Remember that day in July when you went to Memphis with me? We passed by Harpeth's stadium and I told you that's where the Super Bowl was going to be played this year. You looked at me with deadpan eyes and said, "We're going to be there this year and win it!" You and your teammates made it come true. I hope that you have enjoyed this season as much as your mom and I have enjoyed watching you play.

You had an amazing season this year. You overcame your "Cowboys Curse" and actually got to play against them. You made some hard-hitting tackles and blocks. I know that you love playing many other sports, but I truly believe that you excel the best in football. I hope that you will come back next year. I know you think that I am hard on you, but I truly love you, and want to see you succeed at the next level. Next year, Ellie will get to watch you play.

To the coaches: Mike, Hans, Darren, Jeff and the CPAs: John and Bobby. Thank you for your dedication this season in coaching the 9/10 Vikings. I know that you guys had just as much fun as the kids. You guys did more in bringing these kids together from all walks of life, and making them truly teammates. Thank you to the football wives of these guys for allowing them to spend all this time eating, sleeping and thinking football. IT PAID OFF!

Carla, you are always on top of things, and make this organization run smoothly. Thank you for giving your time, energy and efforts, and the sacrifices you made to make this year truly special.

To everyone involved with this program: BRING ON NEXT YEAR!

RJ #89

I am really glad that you got to experience the game of football this year. I enjoyed watching you play. I hope you learned alot and made alot of new friends. Come back next year...

Love,

Blake #32

You had a great year and scored your 1st touchdown!!! You even bounced back after jaw surgery and came back and played again at the end of the year. I never thought that I would be a parent running up and down the fence. But I couldn't help it. I really loved watching you and your teammates playing the game. You are a tough boy and I look forward to watching you next year.

Love,
Dad

James #42

We are so proud of you and really enjoyed watching you play this year. You and your team had such a wonderful year. Great Job! Go Superbowl Champions!

Vikings Football team

What a year. What started on July 21st, well actually it started before that. Once I realized I would be coaching this team, the recruiting began. I knew we had the best of the best already on this team, but I wanted to add pieces to the puzzle. And boy did we. When it was over we had all the best athletes in this area, all on one team. Then it was up to us to make a team. Along the way I assembled the best coaching staff I have ever worked with in my 20 years of coaching. And then having already the best team mom in history. The work was now to be done on the field. People doubted if all these "Superstars" could be a team, if some of the boys could cut it in football. But we answered those questions. We practiced, we scrimmaged anyone we could find. We played school teams, TYFA teams, Mid State teams, 11 - 12 year old teams, and when the season was here we were ready. We had one little set back along the way. But 111 days later we finally won the big one.
To the parents thanks for your support. You might not have always agreed with me, but for the most part you kept it to yourself, and supported everything we did.
To the coaches thanks again for your help, your time, and most of all your friendship. I am not sure y'all always thought everything would work out, but it did.
And to the boys, and this is what this is about, I love each and everyone of you. I am so proud of you. You are great young men. Thank you for playing football for me. I am so humbled to be a small part of giving you that Superbowl that you have been chasing. Thanks to God who makes all this possible, to Maggie for her support, and Mick#7 for all your magic. I love you.

Coach Mike

Mickey #7

Mickey what a great year of football! I am so proud of you and your teammates. And what a great coaching staff you had. You are really becoming a wonderful young man, and I am so proud of you. You and Daddy always say that I am hard on you, but it is just because I want the best for you. The harder you work for something ,the better the outcome. Keep working hard!

Love always, Mom

Mickey #7

Mickey thanks for playing for me this year. I know football is probably your least favorite sport, but I think it is the one you do best. I know I would rather watch you play football than any other sports combined. You were a great team player and leader this year. I am so proud to be involved with you winning the Superbowl. I love you. Keep having fun and keep being "Mick the Quick".
Love, Dad

To Josh

I've struggled for a while about what to write about you because there just aren't enough words to describe how proud we have been for you this year, both personally and in football. Your dad and I have watched you play football for four years now and we both agree that this has been your best year ever. We have been so proud to watch you learn the game, learn the plays and develop a love of the game. We've enjoyed sharing your excitement before and after each game.

We also know that the changes in our family-- adding a sister -- have affected you this season and we could not be more proud at how mature you have been in accepting, loving and obviously adoring your new baby sister. We are so proud of the young man we are watching develop before our eyes.

And while we might not say it nearly enough, we are VERY proud of you. We always knew you were a champion and now you, along with each of your teammates, have the title to prove it. This is a year you and our family will most certainly never forget.

We are especially appreciative, as well, to each of your coaches who have exemplified what good sportsmanship and true character are during our entire season. We are pleased that Josh had a chance to play for each of you.

We love you, Josh!
Mama, Daddy and Ellie

9/10 Vikings

We went from the heat of July to the cold of November with all the hard work and determination of one goal. It paid off, we came out the Superbowl Champs! Each player should keep the memories in your heart. I know you will!!!
Thanks also to all of the other coaches, your a great group of guys!!

MISS SAVANNAH

There are only a few words that say all that I need to say but these are the main two, THANK YOU!!! You were such a great help this year. I'm not sure I could have done it without you. I hope that you will come back and help again next year. As always have a lot of fun, but be good.

Love,
Ms. Marley

9-10 CHEERLEADERS

I was so very lucky to have such a great group of young ladies this year. It was a great season. I hope that all of you had fun and learned something along the way. You ladies always gave me your all and it showed. I hope that you all will come back next year so that we can do it again. Thanks to all you parents, you all were wonderful and supportive of the girls. I had a ton of fun, they were so fun to work with. See you next year.

Have fun, but be good,
Love Ms. Marley

MCKENNA

I am so very proud of you. You are such a sweet and beautiful little girl. You have become a GREAT good cheerleader. You always give it you all no matter what you do in sport and school and that makes me so very lucky to have daughter like you. Always keep your head high, that beautiful smile, laughter in your heart and never lose your spunk and I have no doubt that you will go as far as you wish to.

I LOVE YOU
MAMA

HANS

I know that I can get fussy at times about how much time spend on the phone talking about what plays will work or which ones won't or about the practice's/games before, or how you will watch a game film and then turn around and watch it again in slow motion. I know this is dedication, and it shows. You are such a wonderful coach, you love each and every one the boys as if they were you own. You only want them to give their all and they do. This is one of the best traits that any one person can have because when you believe in something will all that you have, like you do, it comes through to the players and parents, and then you have passed this on. Keep up the good work, it shows in the end result, SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!!!!

LOVE YOU ALWAYS,
MARLEY

GUNNAR,

WOW, What a season!!!. I just want you to know that I am so proud of you. Even though I don't get to watch the games until afterward, that may be even better 'cause I can put them in slow motion. You have worked hard this year and it has shown, on and off the field. You are growing up so very fast, I'm not sure that I like it but I will get used to it, I guess. You have grown into a athletic, bright, caring and prideful young man right before my eyes. You are such a wonderful person in all that you do, whether it be sports or school. These are traits that will come in handy somewhere down in the road of life, carry them with you always and you will continue to come out on top. Always keep your head high, a smile on you face and laughter in your heart and you will do well and go far. GO VIKINGS!!! or as Torrin says "DO Bikings"!!!

I LOVE YOU
MOM

Bryce and Darren

I am so glad that you were able to work together this year! It didn't turn out so bad....Super Bowl Champions!!!!

Bryce you continue to AMAZE me every time you step foot on the field!! I will cheerish every memory you gave me this year and years to come. You are a great teammate and always thinking of everyone else and not yourself!

Darren you stepped out of your comfort zone this year and worked well with the players and other coaches to make it one amazing coaching staff this year for a sport that you have never coached in. I am sure the team will remember your "motovational " talks, "Matt Foley", for years to come. Thank you for always having a positive attitude for our players.

Love you both,
Carla

To Dave

Dave,

What a first season in football!! You make your family very proud of your efforts. You have the ability to "tackle" new things with a positive attitude and a keen sense of determination.

I will miss telling my football stories on Mondays to my classroom and wearing my purple for the Joelton Vikings. I really haven't meant to embarrass you. It is just I am VERY proud of you!

I know you have learned a tremendous amount this season. You have had a FABULOUS coaching staff! What a wonderful group of coaches to teach boys about the important plays of football and life!

Thank you for being such an awesome son!

Love,
Mom

To Matt

Matt,

I'm not sure you really wanted to play football this year, but you had it in your mind that you were going to succeed in this sport too. And you definitely did surprise us each week. You are an amazing young man and athlete.

" The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's DETERMINATION, " and you have plenty of that.

We would like to thank the coaches, team moms, photographers, and parents for making this a very memorable year.

Pam & Mike Brown

To Caleb

Caleb,

We are so proud of you , you are outgoing and full of life!

You love all sports and activities that challenge you, and you always enjoy what you do. You have helped me understand that "sacking the quarterback" is a good thing. Ha Ha!!

Between you and dad, I'll learn this sport one day.

Keep God first and remember "We Love You"

Dad, Mom, and Kayla

Perfect ending to a perfect season!!!

I would like to say congratulations to a great team and a great coaching staff! I have really enjoyed working with all of the players, coaches and parents this year as your team mom. I have one more job left to do this year, and that is to make sure you have a perfect banquet! I love each and every one of you and I am so proud of how you have played as a team this year.
I would LOVE to see all of you come back and play next year together, so think about that over the next few months! I truly believe that we could win another superbowl next year!!! I hope you have enjoyed your season as much as your coaches and parents have. You have made memories that will last a life time.

Coaches--I have heard from numerous people, in our park and outside our park, on how we have one of the best coaching staff they have ever seen. I agree and applaud you on your heart and efforts this year. Thank you for taking your time to coach and love our boys.

Parents--- It has been a pleasure working with you this year. You have all been so willing to help me in every way that you could. You have some great sons!

I would like to say a special thank you to Kevin and Maria Latham for being our personal media relations this year again. The photos that are taken by Maria are very special memories and I cannot wait to see the book! The videos that Kevin takes every week are not only special memories, but great learning tools for our coaches. We appreciate and love both of you for what you do for our team. And this blog site that you set up is the bomb!!!!

Thank you to Steve Ray for getting our "stats" every game. That will be a great added touch to our books this year. We will enjoy going back and reviewing those for years to come!

Our sponsor Baker's Home Improvement (Jeremy and Tracy Baker) thank you again for being our team sponsor! The extra effort that you went this year for the Limo ride, cannot be topped as a special memory these boys will have for a lifetime! Thank you for making that memory for them!

Players---I will keep up with all of you over the years just as I have my other boys from 6 years ago on their 1st Super bowl win! Some of them are Juniors and Seniors playing football now at various high school teams in the area. I kept up with them, just like I will you 6 years from now!!!

Always play with your heart and keep playing as long as you love the game!

Thank you for letting me serve as your team mom this year. I hope you have had as much fun as I have this year!

Love you all!
Carla Collier

Joelton vs Station Camp

What an awesome game the boys played on Saturday!! If they play like that next week, they will most certainly bring home the Super Bowl title. Prayers for Austin Poss that he has a very speedy and pain-free recovery from his injury on Saturday.

The photos from this week's game are located here.

ALSO: A reminder, last year, after the last game, parents posted comments or a post to their son on the blog. Those were included in the book. If you want to do this and do not know how, email me at mblatham@charter.net and I will help you or give it to Carla or myself or Kevin at the park and I'll include it on the blog for you.

Also, the photos from this year will continue to stay up, so you can have access to them long after the season is over.

GO VIKINGS!! Win the Super Bowl!!

Vikings vs. Cheatham County--Homecoming!

What a great game today by all of the Vikings!

We have some great pictures this week that consist of the game, Cody, and our homecoming court. There will be a delay in posting those since Maria is out of town getting Little Ellie. We will get them put on the blog as soon as possible. So keep checking back.....

Joelton vs. Ashland City Cowboys

Great game today Vikings. It was out of the shoot with a touchdown and it seemed like every time someone got their hands on the ball, another touchdown was scored. You guys all did well today.

Photos from today's game are located here. Again, there are quite a few to sort through, but I was glad to be able to get so many of all the players today so I took more!

Team captains for this week were: Blake Gober, Jarrett Ray and Austin Poss.

Final score for today's game was Vikings-36, Cowboys-0. The game was called with 3 minutes, 18 seconds still left in the game.

After the game, all the players signed a game ball for Blake Gober who was unable to play due to injuries to his jaw requiring it to be wired shut for a while. We hope that he is feeling better and back to normal really soon!
Go Vikings!!

Vikings v South Cheatham

What a nail-biting game on Saturday against the South Cheatham Indians!! It was back and forth the entire game. The Viking team and coaches proved, however, that no matter how unfair things seem to be, playing fair is the right thing to do and makes the victory even sweeter.

Joelton vs. Portland

Great game today, Vikings!

Team captains for today were Matt Brown, Josh Latham and Blake Waller.

And let me just say that Blake Gober was on fire today! He got his first touchdown and there is a photo of him riding on a Portland player's back while bringing him down.

Final score for today's game was 33-12.

We surely missed Coach Mike who was still on vacation, but Coach Hans did a great job as "Interim Head Coach" and all the other coaches and assistants did a wonderful job as well!!

Way to GO!!!

Photos from today's game can be found here. Remember, I was using a temporary camera again this week so the quality isn't as good as I'd like. However, there are some great photos of the cheerleaders!! I will have my regular camera repaired and back in service next week (finger's crossed!!).

Website for MTYFL

Someone asked at the park tonight if there was a way to see the scores/standings of the other teams in our league. There is a website for the Middle Tennessee Youth Football League. You can click HERE or there is a link over on the right side of the page. It will tell you the scores of each game for the teams each week.

You can also get directions to the fields from this website as well.

Vikings vs. White House East

Yesterday was a tough loss on the field, but we will be able to take a lot of things to the practices this week and learn from them. Those few mistakes and lessons will make us a better team throughout the rest of the season! We have to focus and grow from this loss! I would much rather take this loss from a hard played game now, than get it later in the season with a division game or playoff game. You boys still played hard yesterday, we just need to get meaner and learn from that. Josh Latham, you had the game of your life yesterday! Great Job! Our whole defensive line was awesome on stopping WHE two times on the goal line!! Keep up the good work next week and weeks to come! Everyone did a good job, we will just do better next week!!!

Joelton vs. White House

Sadly, today, Joelton lost to White House East with a score of 16-8. It was not because of lack of effort, however, as Joelton led a good part of the game.

Team captains for this week were Bailey Baker, James Whitby and Gunnar Pfeffer.

The photos I was able to take can be found here. Unfortunately, a few plays into the game my camera had a problem. I have since diagnosed it as some internal problem with the focusing mechanism and will send it off Monday to have it fixed (again!). Fortunately, I was able to borrow Carla Collier's camera to take photos. You can view those photos here.

Also, Brandon Beck took photos of today's game and they can be found here.

I think Ms. Poss took photos as well and I will try to get them and post them here for you to view as well.

Words from Coach Mike

What about those Vikings? Thanks to all the parents for your support. It is an honor to coach these kids. They are a talented bunch that give us 100 PER CENT. We have a long way to go, but are off to a good start. White House next week -- tough game. Do not forget Panama City. Maggie will have info this week.

Thanks!

Coach Mike

Great Hot game today!!! Everyone played their hearts out and shut down the Bobcats! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! There were way too many great plays today to start naming...but we looked good on defense, offense , the line, punting, etc.....just everything! Let's keep up the good teamwork and sportsmanship and go get those White House Blue Devils next...... maybe it will start cooling off here soon. Go Vikings!

Saturday's Scrimmages

What a great start to the 2008 Vikings season to have two wins on Saturday. As Coach Mike says however, "Don't go buying your Superbowl Rings just yet." The boys played very hard, and it was nice that both first and second string players got to see a lot of action on the field. Newcomers to the team this year showed us what talent they had to offer and we saw great effort put forth from them!! The boys who've been playing Vikings football for a while continued to do show their dependability and performed well on the field.

It was a HOT day, probably hitting the high 90s and the coaches were well-prepared with coolers of Gatoraid and rags soaked in ice water to keep the boys hydrated and cool.

Great job Vikings. Keep up the good work!

Photos from Joelton at Donelson - 08/02/08

Each week I (Maria Latham - Josh's mom) will post photos of your children for you to view on this site. There will be a link to a website that contains that week's photos. You are welcome to view, copy, have printed or save these photos. They are for you to use however you want. There are no fees to you for any of this. You do not have to have copyright permission to use them, but please be sensitive of using photos of other people's children without permission from them.

I try really hard to get them uploaded prior to Monday morning. Usually, they are done Saturday night or Sunday morning. I am trying really hard this year to cut down the number of photos I take, but it literally pains me to delete a photo of your child. I managed to pare this week's offering down from 371 to 242. *smile*.

If you have questions about the photos, feel free to see me or Kevin at the park. If I didn't get many photos of your child this week, next week might be their week. Before the season is over, you will have plenty of photos of your child to view.

These are also the photos we use to make the end of the year memory book that we offer for purchase.

Have a great season!! I look forward to photographing our team again this year!

This weeks photos can be found here (click the word here and you'll go to the site).

This week's favorite photo. These were some hot boys!!
